Designed to be of use for all, RM to MP3 Converter is a free audio conversion utility that allows you to re-encode any number of RealMedia files into either MP3 or WAV audio files. All RA, RM, RAM, and RMVB files are supported for the input, including RealVideo files, whose audio stream will be extracted and saved in any of the two formats supported for the output. You can check any of the tracks on the conversion list using the program’s playback tool.
Though saving your RealMedia tracks to any of the two output formats supported is equally straightforward, MP3 files support a certain level of customization. While WAV files require no additional intervention on your side, the MP3 output files can be customized in terms of bit rate and quality level. The bit rate is set to Constant by default, which suits most RealMedia files, which are always built using a constant bit rate. RealMedia Variable Bitrate (RMVB) containers, though, can keep its variable bit rate by changing the output settings accordingly and by defining both the minimum and the maximum rates to be used as well as the desired quality level. You can also choose the overall level of quality of the resulting file. The range goes from “Voice” (for low quality or human speech audio files) to “Very High”.
As for the decode engine, the program offers you two choices – BoilSoft RealMedia Decoder and the native RealMedia Plugin. The former is apparently more stable, while the latter is faster. Either way, the conversion process itself is usually both fast and reliable, producing the expected results. If something goes wrong with any of the RM tracks, you can always switch between engines and try again. RM to MP3 Converter is easy to use, free, and great to convert any mixture and any number of RealMedia tracks into WAV or MP3 files in just one go.
